(Senior) Portfolio Analyst - Special Operations

The team

The Special Operations (SO) team is responsible for the recovery and restructuring of non-performing assets in the FMO portfolio (both FMO-A and Government Funds) and manages distressed assets worldwide in both FMOs key focus sectors (Energy, Financial Institutions and Agri) as well as assets originated by its former departments (Housing and Infrastructure, Manufacturing & Services). The SO approach includes pro-active management and follow-up of ESG challenges related to its portfolio with distressed clients in order to safeguard the envisaged development (E&S) impact as well as reducing potential reputational issues.

We are a diverse and experienced team of 16 professionals, including 4 (Senior) Portfolio Analysts, one Management Assistant, 9 (Senior) Investment Officers, one Senior E&S Officer and a Manager. We work closely with our colleagues from Legal but also with Credit (including additional E&S support) as well as FO colleagues in case we provide support through a SO Consultation role. The gross portfolio of SO has grown substantially in the last year and is currently about EUR 640 mln. Including third parties, our (written-off) B-portfolio and consultations, SO (in)directly has a portfolio of > EUR 1.0 bln under management. This also stresses the importance of sharing lessons learned, including E&S, by SO within FMO.

The candidate we look for is a team player with a pro-active approach, clear financial/analytical skills and focus on quality of work.   • Provide support to the (S)IO's and Manager on various topics including KYC;
  • Write internal reporting documents such as Loan Impairment Sheets, Change Request and Client Credit Reviews;

  • Your background

  • [Bachelor's or] Master’s degree;
  • 2 - 3 years of relevant working experience preferably in the field of finance;
  • Good understanding of financial project modelling in Excel;
  • Excellent conversational and written skills in English;
  • Affinity with FMO's mission.
  • Please note, if we make you an offer to join FMO, you will need to work through the screening process with our screening partner. The process is designed to check your integrity and reliability.
