This role sits in the NGP (Next Generation Products) Digital team, reporting directly to the Head of IT of NGP and forms part of the overall global technology leadership team.
We work with cutting edge, state-of-the-art technology. The Operations Manager is responsible for maintenance, availability and operations of infrastructure across the technology organization. They will ensure overall service delivery and monitor delivered solutions to ensure fit with business requirements. The Operations Manager will, together with his teams (application management, DevOps), work towards operational excellence.
The role will involve building strong relationships and playing a key role in bringing together software engineering and operations in the delivery of our products. The Operations Manager is expected to have a direct impact on the ability to continually innovate our products and improve our way of working.
Provides oversight for the operations and support of IT systems;
Management of third-party service provider to ensure optimal levels of support, efficiency and alignment to business strategy is maintained at all times;
Maintain quality control through establishing and maintaining technical operational standards;
Assess impact of proposed changes to the infrastructure on the overall business and technology operation, physical space and staff resources;
Identify changes needed in the infrastructure and technology configuration of a given operation, identify current and projected system limitations;
Participate in technology and project planning sessions and ensure clear understanding of any relevant implementation milestones from the perspective of infrastructure readiness;
Assess the readiness of prosed changes and identify key stakeholders;
Support communication efforts - the design, development, delivery and management of communications;
Lead and ensure compliance with security experts to reduce risk;
Lead and improves the incident management process and provides structural improvements to resolve future incidents;
Assist technical staff to check and ensure resolution of all issues to achieve all objectives;
Ensure uptime, peak performance, and capacity is maintained;
Continuously develop capability to manage risk, incident and other challenges;
Reports on and manages key KPI’s around operational processes and systems;
Responsible for cost management within the operations domain.
Skills & experience
At minimum 4 years of previous IT Operations management experience;
Strong IT background, including cross-domain knowledge and preferably earlier career experience in an individual contributor role in IT operations;
Excellent verbal and written communication; attention to detail;
Able to prioritize the work in multitasking environment & follow up on commitments;
Strong vendor management and partner relation skills to identify and leverage resources internal and external;
Experience leveraging both IT service management as well as DevOps practices;
Proven working experience in project management.
Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification;
